Bumblebees and solitary bees – overlooked polinators

Did you know that in Slovenia, there lives about 500 species of ‘wild bees’? Despite their important role as pollinators, their role has been largely overlooked. Environmental changes have not been kind, and what we’re seeing being done to domesticated bees, is happening, probably worse, to solitary bees. Lecturer dr. Danilo Bevk will try to convince you why wild bees are non-replaceable pollinators and how can we help them.

Lecture will be held at the Department of biology. Večna pot 111, Ljubljana on March 19th 2014 at 18:00 by dr. Danilo Bevk, bee researcher, president of commission for alternative pollinators at the Beekeeper’s society of Slovenia. Danilo also manufactures nesting posts for bumblebees and solitary bees (www.cmrljica.si).
